Based on the high level of engagement and enthusiasm for the two listening sessions that IREACH held December in partnership with the COVID-19 Vaccine Confidence Project, we will be holding two new sessions in mid-February to hear Native Hawaiian, Alaska Native and Native American thoughts, feelings, and views on COVID-19 vaccinations. The sessions will include a presentation by Salish-Kootenai vaccine expert Dr. Joshua Marceau. Supported by the Reagan Udall Foundation on behalf of the FDA, the December 2020 COVID-19 Vaccine Confidence Project listening sessions included 26 participants representing a cross-section of tribal members from American Indian & Alaska Native communities across the U.S. The project focused on connecting with traditionally underrepresented communities and frontline workers to better understand perceptions about COVID vaccines, identify information people want as they think about getting vaccinated, and brainstorm about how to best provide key audiences with the information they need.
