Michael McDonell, PhD, is an Associate Professor in the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine at Washington State University and the Director of Behavioral Health Innovations. He is a clinical psychologist with more than 20 years of experience developing, testing, and implementing strength-based interventions for people with addiction and mental illness in community settings. He is active in public health research and behavioral interventions in American Indian and Alaska Native communities. Michael partnered with Dr. Dedra Buchwald and other investigators on programs mentoring junior Native faculty and is passionate about mentoring aspiring scientists, especially those from backgrounds that are underrepresented in science.
