Cassandra Nikolaus, PhD, is a Postdoctoral Research Associate for Washington State University in the Institute for Research and Education to Advance Community Health (IREACH). Her training is in dietetics and nutritional sciences, with specific expertise in food insecurity and community nutrition education efforts. She was a first-generation college student who grew up in Snohomish, Washington, and began her education at Everett Community College. Dr. Nikolaus’ research focuses on the role of food and nutrition security in creating health equity for priority populations in the U.S. At IREACH, she coordinates the Strong Men, Strong Communities trial and collaborates on policy and environmental investigations within the Engaging Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders and Activating Communities to Take Steps (ENACTS) pilot. In her free time, Cassandra reads, knits, and spends time with her spouse and two cats.
