The Natives Engaged in Alzheimer’s Research Webinar Series Presents “Telling Our Own Stories: Power of Community-Partnered Data in Improving Aging Outcomes for Our Elders.”

A majority of the research into aging and long-term care fails to adequately include American Indian, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian communities or does not factor important elements such as historical trauma, service deserts, and other impediments to access and participation in supportive programming.

In this webinar, Dr. Collette Adamsen will provide an overview of the importance of direct survey data in advocacy, outreach, and program planning to improve quality of life and health for American Indian, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian Elders. She will discuss the survey methodology for the triannual Identifying our Needs: A Survey of Elders needs assessment and describe how the data has been utilized by American Indian, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian programs to identify areas of need and develop additional supports while improving current service delivery options for the Elders in their communities.
